Nate Dogg (August 19, 1969 – March 15, 2011)

Grammy award nominee Nate Dogg died this week from complications of a stroke. Nate Dogg (Nathaniel Hale) suffered two strokes in the last few years beginning in 2008, which left him partially paralyzed.

Suffering his first stroke in his late thirties, it was surprising to me that someone under 60 would be susceptible to having strokes at all.

After following my first instinct to Google everything, I stumbled upon this website on which the first of many statistics on strokes was "stroke is the third leading cause of death in the United States." This fact was a shock to me as I thought of strokes to be something that only the very old were afflicted with.
